Answered Prayers

"Do not be afraid, Daniel. Since the first day that you set your mind to gain understanding and to humble yourself before your God, your words were heard, and I have come in response to them." – Daniel 10:12, NIV

Zach sat quietly in Sunday school, his usual spark replaced by a shadow of worry. Herb, his teacher, gently asked him what was wrong. At first, Zach hesitated, but then the words spilled out: “My dad’s using again. My mom didn’t want me to know, but I heard them arguing.”

Herb felt a deep ache in his heart. He knew this was a heavy burden for a young boy. “That’s a lot for you to handle,” he said softly.

Zach’s eyes glistened with unshed tears. “I’ve been praying, Mr. Herb. I keep asking God to heal my dad. You always tell us God can do anything, so why is it taking so long?”

Herb took a deep breath, recalling a story from the Bible. “Zach, have you ever heard about Daniel? He prayed earnestly for an answer, but it didn’t come right away. When the angel finally came, he told Daniel something interesting—he had been sent the moment Daniel began praying, but he was delayed because of a spiritual battle.”

Zach leaned forward, intrigued. “So, God answered him right away?”

“Yes,” Herb replied. “But the answer didn’t reach him immediately. Sometimes, God is working in ways we can’t see. That’s why we have to hold on to our faith and keep praying. God hears you, Zach, and He loves you and your dad deeply.”

Reflection

Have you ever faced a situation where God’s timing seemed far away? Like Zach, you may wonder why the answer feels delayed. But remember, just as Daniel learned, the moment you pray, Heaven listens. Trust that God is working, even when the path seems unclear.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, we lift up children like Zach who are carrying burdens too heavy for their young hearts. For every parent struggling with addiction, we pray for deliverance and healing. Wrap these families in Your love, surround them with support, and strengthen their faith. Help us to trust in Your perfect timing. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
