A Caring Community

Scripture Inspiration: "Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you." – Luke 6:38, NIV

Reflection: Wayne had a tradition of making Christmas a grand celebration. He not only searched for the ideal gifts for his children or adorned his home with festive lights but also dedicated his time to the local soup kitchen. Every holiday season, he involved his children in volunteering to help them see their blessings.

He didn't stop there; Wayne coordinated efforts to provide gifts and holiday cheer to the children of single parents and even delivered hot meals to the homeless on cold nights. However, one Christmas, life took a harsh turn. His wife was diagnosed with breast cancer and shortly after, he lost his job along with their health insurance.

Facing a dire situation, their savings seemed inadequate, but the community that Wayne had supported over the years stepped up. They received Christmas gifts from one family, groceries from another, and job assistance from a single father Wayne had once helped. This outpouring of support was a testament to the power of community and the blessings that come from giving.

Prayer: Lord, I am in distress, feeling as though everything has crumbled around me. My heart is heavy with the fear of being forsaken, and I am overwhelmed by uncertainties. In my darkest moments, I beseech You to comfort me. Grant me Your peace and wrap me in the embrace of a compassionate community. Let me feel Your presence through their actions and love. In the name of Jesus, Amen.

Thought for the Day: No matter the adversity, remember that God can provide solace through the warmth of community support. It's in giving that we receive the most profound gifts—those of love, support, and hope.

Blessings, Pastor Stephan
